3200 Videos on the Fundamentals of various Mechanisms
Dr. Nguyen Duc Thang, a retired mechanical engineer, has contributed more than 3200 videos on the fundamentals of various mechanisms to his Youtube channel
www.youtube.com/@thang010146. The categorized
lists of videos are presented at
www.mechanisms.co/.
The pictures, brief descriptions, and YouTube links can be downloaded at
HERE
The list consists of 4 parts:
Part 1: Transmission of continuous rotation
Part 2: Other kinds of motion transmission
Part 3: Mechanisms of specific purposes
Part 4: Mechanisms for various industries
Under his permission, we showcase these outstanding resources on our website so that students can discover and learn more knowledge about the world of engineering.
We greatly appreciate Dr. Thang's hard work and contributions!
And to the students, have fun learning!
How to kill ESD?
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is the sudden transfer of electrical charge between two objects with different electrical charges.
It can cause the robot dead. The ESD mostly comes from the robot's material, such as plastic or Acrylic plate.
It'd better avoid using this kind material to build the drivetrain. If your robot shill has ESD for some reason,
then you can use this solution shown in my video below to resolve it easily.
How to implement "Multiple Functions with One Actuator"?
According to the FTC's rule R503 for the 2025-2026 season, robots are limited to use up to 10 servos rather than 12. This will create challenges for teams who need more servos to control many actions.
We created a video to present our "Multiple Functions, One Actuator" designs that were used during our robot summer camp training in late June 2025. We thought it would be better to publish these clever
designs to all teams so that all students can learn how to build unique and highly efficient robots.
